Pre-Conference Tours

Throughout the World Guernsey Conference, attendees will have the opportunity to visit a variety of different world renown attractions. Below are some of the key highlights that will be visited.

Johnson Space Center – Houston, TX

The Manned Spacecraft Center (MSC) was established in 1961 as the lead center for NASA’s human spaceflight programs. MSC became home to the iconic Mission Control Center, where flight controllers have managed every crewed flight since Gemini IV in 1965. In honor of the late President Lyndon B. Johnson, MSC became the Johnson Space Center in 1973. Today, the Johnson Space Center is home to the nation’s astronaut corps, the International Space Station mission operations, the Orion Program, and a host of future space developments. The center plays a pivotal role in  enhancing scientific and technological knowledge to benefit all of humankind.

Billy Bob’s Honky Tonk – Fort Worth, TX

The building now known as Billy Bob’s Texas was built in 1910 and was once an open-air barn used to house prize cattle for the Fort Worth Stock Show. Billy Bob’s Texas opened April 1, 1981 with national attention featuring Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers as the first performers.  Other artists who appeared during opening week included Waylon Jennings, Janie Fricke, and Willie Nelson. With 100,000 square feet of interior space and 20 acres of parking for entertainment and events, Billy Bob’s features 30 individual bar stations, live music with country music’s biggest stars, Live Pro Bull Riding, and a Texas size dance floor. Billy Bob’s has also been featured on several TV and Movie screens and has served as the location for several music videos for country’s biggest stars.  A number of episodes of the original television series “Dallas” were shot on location. Other shows include “Walker Texas Ranger,” CBS’s “Happy New Year America,”  “CBS This Morning,”  VH1 “Rock of Love”, and “Nashville Star.”  Billy Bob’s has also been highlighted in several travel shows and news features.

AT&T Stadium – Arlington, TX

Formerly Cowboys Stadium, AT&T Stadium is a retractable roof stadium in Arlington, Texas, United States. It serves as the home of the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL) and was completed on May 27, 2009. The facility, owned by the city of Arlington, can also be used for a variety of other activities such as concerts, basketball games, college and high school football contests, soccer matches, rodeos and motocross and Spartan races. It replaced the partially covered Texas Stadium, which served as the Cowboys’ home from 1971 through the 2008 season. The stadium seats 80,000, making it tied as the fifth largest stadium in the NFL by seating capacity. 

National Cowboy Museum – Oklahoma City, OK 

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum is a museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States, with more than 28,000 Western and American Indian art works and artifacts. The facility also has the world’s most extensive collection of American rodeo photographs, barbed wire, saddlery, and early rodeo trophies. Museum collections focus on preserving and interpreting the heritage of the American West.

Bass Pro Shops – Springfield, MO

Bass Pro Shops was founded in 1972 by avid young angler Johnny Morris on eight-square-feet of space in the back of his father’s liquor store in Springfield, Missouri. Today, the leading national retailer of outdoor gear and apparel has 200 retail and marine center locations across North America.

Morris’ passion for the outdoors and his feel for the products and shopping experiences desired by outdoor enthusiasts transformed the industry. Bass Pro Shops locations are more than just stores — they are true destination experiences that draw more than 200 million visitors annually. Each location is heavily customized to reflect the character of the region. In addition to giant aquariums teeming with live fish and extensive wildlife mounts and dioramas, many locations feature unique restaurants and ocean-themed bowling alleys. In 2017, Bass Pro Shops acquired Cabela’s to create a “best-of-the-best” experience with superior products, dynamic locations and outstanding customer service.

On September 21, 2017, Bass Pro Shops celebrated the grand opening of the “Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium” in Springfield, MO. Wonders of Wildlife consists of an 1.5-million-gallon aquarium adventure showcasing 35,000 live fish, mammals, reptiles and birds, and an immersive wildlife museum that brings visitors eye-to-eye with the greatest collection of record-setting game animals ever assembled. Located adjacent to Bass Pro Shops National Headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, the 320,000-square foot experience celebrates people who hunt, fish, and act as stewards of the land and water.
